Once Upon a Main Street
The Union Bank Company is honored to be a Benefactor of Go Ottawa, who is constantly striving to enhance the way we live, work and experience our town. As a true community bank, our commitment goes beyond banking; we take pride in being a partner to the people and organizations that make Ottawa special. This year, we are thrilled to be the key sponsor for Go Ottawa’s inaugural “Once Upon a Main Street” Christmas event, a celebration designed to bring holiday magic to our town in a way we’ve never seen before. This event is also being supported through an ArtSTART grant from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.
Once Upon a Main Street will feature a story book trail, inviting families to explore Ottawa through the lens of "The Night Before Christmas.” Visitors will follow the trail through a decorated Christmas tree lot, artistic window displays and stunning large-scale installations showcasing the talent and craftmanship of our local elementary schools and their industry partners. The map below provides an overview for the trail.
We will ‘turn the lights on’ for the trail on December 5th at 6pm. The trail will then remain for visitors to view at their leisure until January 10th. Our opening night will include hot chocolate, live readings from the OGHS Drama Club, performances from Center Stage Dance Academy (7pm) and The Dance Center (7:30pm), and activities at some of our Main Street establishments and more! This will also kick-off our 2nd Annual Ottawa Light Up Contest. (Link to last year’s contest here.) Maps for residents participating in the Light Up Contest will be provided at the tree lot so when you finish exploring downtown, you can hop in your vehicle to check out the lights around town! A wonderful evening of holiday spirit. We hope this event will not only spread festive joy, but also shine a spotlight on the creativity and ingenuity that makes Ottawa a place we’re proud to call home.
At The Union Bank Company, supporting our community is at the core of what we do. We hope this event becomes a cherished tradition that grows with each passing year, bringing more spirit, connection, and joy to Ottawa. We are excited to be a part of this journey, working together with Go Ottawa to make our town an even better place to live, celebrate, and come together. We see the vision Go Ottawa has for our community and we are honored to be a part of making it happen.
We also want to take a minute to acknowledge some our community partners that have been instrumental in making this event come to life.
